Overall, our stay at Mitsis Summer Palace was not bad, but the hotel did not always meet the standard I would expect from a five-star resort.
The hotel is essentially divided into two sections: the older building, where the reception and main restaurant are located, and the newer section with modern rooms, pools and other facilities.
Our arrival was not particularly impressive. We had to carry our luggage through a narrow and steep entrance and then drag it up several stairs. This is not how you imagine being welcomed to a five-star hotel, and it certainly did not feel luxurious. The check-in process itself was fine, although I have experienced much better service at other hotels.
We stayed in one of the newer sea-view rooms, which was beautiful. The room was modern, clean and had an amazing view. However, there was a major problem with the bathroom drain. It produced an unbearable smell, and the same issue was present in all the rooms occupied by our group.
